Now in its tenth issue, following the Compasso d’Oro award won last year, INVENTARIO goes on talking about the culture of design, moving freely between different disciplines in a fertile dialogue between art, design and architecture.
The cover of this issue is dedicated to the football, an object that is at the centre of popular passions and children’s games, but also a source of inspiration for artists and designers. Like other presences in our daily lives, the football is a constant subject for reflections, readings and interpretations between design and art, inspiration for works that lay between fun and enjoyment, commitment and insights, paradox and humour.
Inside INVENTARIO, however, we find the fixed headings that organise the flow of thoughts, objects and images. Under the heading “Absolutes”, Deborah Duva discusses “Space, 2007” by Antony Gormley and Paolo Bocchi discusses “Don Giovanni, 1986” by Lucio Battisti. Marcel Mauer tells us about “The architecture of Art”, the work by Siah Armajani. In “Normal Wonders”, Daniele Greppi reflects on Enzo Mari’s exhibition of scythes. Cristina Miglio offers a profile of Andrea Anastasio in ”Personal Inventory”. In “Temporalia” Michele Dossi develops a reflection around an object, in this case an umbrella, while Giulio Iacchetti looks at the umbrella stand in “Short notes”. Marco Romanelli talks with Robert Stadler in “New Masters”. In “Savoir-faire” Arianna Panatela explains – aided by Massimo Gardone’s photography – the Fórcola, the object that is used to support and hold the oar on Venetian boats. Michele Calzavara discusses Enric Miralles’ architecture in “Myths of today”, which connects to Domi Mora’s photographic alphabet in “Normal wonders”, which was created in 1994 in a building created by Miralles. Corrado Levi examines five plants in “Other cases, other houses”. Francesco M. Cataluccio and Lorena Tonin reflect on the labyrinths in “Achitect’s Manual” and finally, Matteo Pirola talks abut “The Paradise Institute, 2001” by Janet Cardiff and George Bures Miller in “Species of Spaces”.
Beppe Finessi (1966), architect, conducts education programmes, research and criticism. Through exhibitions and editorial projects, he deals with the work of the great masters of Italian design and new faces on the international scene. He has planned and directed “Inventario. Tutto è Progetto” since 2010.
