Double face is an endless series of variations on human faces.
Each face is “double” because it can be observed in both reading senses of the book, without a top nor a bottom, without a start nor an end. By turning it upside down, each face changes its expression in a curious and unexpected way...

Happy, misterious, uncombed, haughty, enigmatic, euphoric, distraught... In the reader’s hands, child or adult, the faces’ outlines become examples of all possible expressions: a gallery of vivid full-bodied “masks” floating on a particularly thick paper.

Gianpaolo Pagni (Turin, 1969) is an artist and an illustrator, he lives and works in Paris.
He regularly collaborates with many newspapers and magazines in France, Italy, United Kingdom and United States (Le monde, Libération, Le Magazine Littéraire, Wall Street Journal, The Guardian, New York Times, Time Magazine, Ventiquattro Magazine, XXI... ) and also Italian and French publishers (Flammarion, Seuil, Editions du Rouergue, J’ai lu, Mondadori, Rizzoli...)
He regularly exhibits his works in France and abroad.
