Targa Giovani is a prize for industrial design students. It rewards design projects, research and products made independently, promoting talent and creativity well before the complexities of manufacture and the market come into play. The Compasso d’Oro is an award for the product itself, the result of a synergy between designer and manufacturer and the response to both an intellectual and a commercial challenge. With its close relationship with schools Targa Giovani helps emerging designers to create contacts with the ADI, encouraging their work and research on project quality and processes at the pre-marketing and production stages. This concept adds added value to the end result. The Award also helps create a network that will facilitate entry into the profession, offering opportunities for growth and dialogue. The book contains 59 designs selected by the Osservatorio Permanente from among the best degree theses, best workshops, competition results and work produced in the design schools. Among these are three Targhe Giovani and ten Attestati (mentions).
