To celebrate the Bologna Children's Book Fair (from 24 to 27 March, 2014) Corraini Edizioni, in collaboration with the MAMbo Education Department and the Bologna Children's Book Fair, presents the Workmen exhibition by the Japanese artist, illustrator and graphic artist Taro Miura. The exhibition is open from 23 March to 21 April in the educational areas at MAMbo, and it will be accompanied by a variety of meetings and workshops with the artist (see calendar below).
In his books published by Corraini - Ton, Tools, Construction Site and the recent Workman stencil (released to mark Bologna Children's Book Fair) – Taro Miura has been able to speak to children about the fascinating world of manual labour, with an extraordinary ability to synthesise and an unmistakable graphic touch, both clean and iconic.
With the Workmen exhibition, Taro Miura returns to Bologna and the Bologna Children's Book Fair, where he first made himself known to an international audience more than ten years ago. The exhibition recounts some original drawings taken of his four books published by Corraini, as well as three large-format canvases created by the artist especially for MAMbo: three homage/reinterpretations of a number of masterpieces such as 'The Dance' by Matisse, 'The Young Ladies of Avignon' by Picasso and Michelangelo's 'David'.
